A little bit of rain last night but it looks like it might be over with the sun breaking though the clouds as it's reflection turns the lake a dull orange. Only the sparkle created by the breeze as it ripples the water stops me from calling it an ugly color. Well..............it's still kind of ugly but the nice warm feeling that hope of the sun staying out for the day sort of masks the true thoughts of the view.
We are heading out of here in a little while for our 165 mile trip to Black. Glenda is taking two pecan pies and a huge container of baked ham. I unselfishly, to save Glenda from any possible embarrassment, made myself about half sick testing the ham for her. I knew she wouldn't want to take along anything that wasn't as good as it could be. Unfortunately the half sick kept me from testing either of the pies. That was yesterday and sleep seems to have negated the ill feeling but now Glenda won't let me try the pies! She says she knows they are okay. I'm sure it will be blamed on the handling and hauling, the tiny bit of crust and ever so small pecan that is missing. Um' um' good!
Poor Glenda will be wearing sunglasses all day. She says that she won't take them off anytime there are other people about. For some reason the eyelids or whatever it is that is between the eye and the eyebrow has become swollen and red. She looks like someone gave her a pretty good beating. Tho the eyes are swollen enough to leave only a good slit to see from, her vision hasn't been affected much because she can hardly see anyway. I think getting some full time glasses to wear is in her near future. That will cause me the need to straighten up my act. Her inability to see allows me to almost get away with anything. She doesn't even know the pies have been damaged! Yep, I went back and hit the other one.
Now I'm going to hit send....................Don't waste your day!
A day dawns, quite like other days; in it, a single hour comes, quite like other hours; but in that day and in that hour the chance of a lifetime faces us.----- Maltbie Babcock
