August 11

Let me see............The last time we went to a movie was about three years ago when Glenda won two free tickets by being the first to call in an answer to a question asked on the radio. We may go to another movie in a few days. Yep! She did it again. This time they threw in a meal at the restaurant "Risky's". I'm not much on movies but when you throw a meal in I think I can sit through one.

As always, Glenda needs to prepare for the night out. Today we travel to Eldon so she can get her hair cut. Heck, you can't go out to a movie and a meal looking like you need a hair cut. Are new clothes on her list too? I'd almost bet a shoe store will be visited. She'll surely need a new pair of shoes to go stepping out in. Free just costs too much!

Like we got a new tiny floor cover in the wet bar area downstairs. Then we had to buy paint to trim around the windows in the room. Looked pretty good but the appearance could be improved if we got new blinds. (that was an ordeal!) Don't ask me how, but the new blinds led to the replacement of the faucet in the sink. During all this we had to change around the furniture in the room, (more than once). It was decided the TV would be better on the other side of the room, away from the cable connection. This required an extensive job of moving some of the surround sound components and a trip to town in search of a covering for the cables and wires running across the room.

In the end things look pretty good and works fine but the surround sound isn't very surround anymore. We don't use it that much anyway. I can hardly bear the bass. With my hearing loss being mostly with the higher sounds I tend to turn things up kind of high to hear them. Bass sounds, that I can hear real well, come up too. They soon get way too loud and overwhelms any high pitched sounds that I'm trying to hear. Turn the bass off and turn the treble up.

You've got to be careful around here. Awhile back we stumbled across a recliner that I thought I just had to have. It replaced one that we had been using for almost ten years. Geez! It was still in pretty good shape and I wished I was still sitting in it. That new recliner caused the replacement of another perfectly good recliner with a love seat which caused the replacement of a perfectly good couch with a new one which caused............well, I can't remember. I tend to forget negative things pretty quickly. I haven't forgotten about the kitchen yet but I'll not start on that here at this time.

I do not know where or how, but it seems to me that things got a little out of hand, resulting in the outside of the house getting painted, all the decks and dock getting stained and out there now are some folks preparing a quote on a new retaining wall that will enlarge our parking area and ease gaining entrance to the garage.

Can't really afford to but gotta go to Eldon...........Once you've seen one shopping center, you've seen a mall.
