August 27

I was thinking that clouds were obscuring our view of the grand old sun this morning but further observation brought the conclusion that the sun has not yet risen, rose or come over the hill. It looks like nature only needs a couple more pushes to birth another new day for us to enjoy. That is if one can enjoy a 94 degree day with a humidity of 86 or more. Thankfully we're able to enjoy in some fashion, each and every day we're blessed with.

Last night Glenda along with Ruthie and Mary Jo went to play bingo. They were all put down somewhat when none won but the joy was there during the play as the anticipation of winning filled their hearts for awhile during each game. That taste of joy coupled with the social aspect of the outing totally eliminated the chance of any lingering despair from their loosing evening. At least that is what I'm led to believe.

Today is 'older folks' bowling day in Eldon. The cost of bowling is sliced a bit and cookies or cake are furnished free. Socializing seems to be the main objective of most and with the problems of the old bowling machines there is plenty of time for it. Of course breakdowns aren't really necessary for full conversations as several of the bowlers hardly ever know when it's their time to bowl. Altogether it makes for a very slow game.

Glenda says that I'm usually not very social and maybe she is correct but when I go, I go to bowl. Since bowling seems to be only a happenstance of the social gathering I don't go very often. That plus the fact I can't bowl worth a hoot at that bowling alley. Okay! Maybe it isn't because of the bowling alley. I just can't bowl anymore!

Can't type or think either but I keep trying because it doesn't cost anything. At the cut prices you still can't bowl for free.

Thought for the day: Over the weekend, my computer was infected by a virus -- the one where, when you open it, it drinks all the beer in your fridge and gets all sleazy with your woman. No, wait... never mind. That was me...........(TomG.)
