August 5

Last night we missed the 63 million power ball lottery as did everyone else. Our one out of six isn't close enough for anything but who knows what Saturday might bring. It will be up to 76 Million over 20 years or 39.9 million cash. I'm hoping we'll get around to somewhere that sells tickets. Buying one ticket only gives us a 1 in 120,526,770 chance of winning but without a ticket the odds are even worse. The least winner is $3 for only the power ball and the odds of doing that are 1 in 70. Do you think if I bought 70 tickets I could win $3.00?

Jeff City is going to get a tainting this afternoon when the two Johns arrive by train for a rally at the capital. The plans are for them to arrive around four and leave around seven. The train has two Amtrak locomotives to haul 14 private rail cars rented from the St. Louis Car Co. It doesn't say but I suspect the locomotives are joined to the rail cars, one at each end, in case Kerry should change his mind about going to Kansas City next.

Thank goodness the sewage treatment plant is just across the river and just recently had some upgrades so that should lessen any chance of an overflow while treating some of Kerry's stuff.

It is kinda cool here this morning at only 68 degrees and with a good breeze blowing out of the north. The talk on TV said the high today would be only around 80.

Now yesterday was hot and very humid. I couldn't do the walk because of the horse flies. They're everywhere and their bite brings blood. Anyone walking would look nuts as he must continually swing his arms and hands about his body as he walks along in a mostly unsuccessful attempt to keep the flies away. I did the tread mill instead and even that in an air-conditioned room had me sopping wet at the end.....well not just at the end but all over. But since the end subject came up I'll go with it.

Dijon vu: the same mustard as before....DB
