February 19, 2005

A weekend is not a couple of days rest for retired folks. It's just about like every other day for us except the meal prices are raised at all the casino's which means we eat at home. Another exception is that usually on Saturday, free gifts are offered at several of the casino's to lure suckers in. That makes at least part of our weekend a pretty busy, hustle around, kind of day. We can't let a free gift slip past us no matter what it costs!

Tomorrow may be another 'stay at home' day for us. May be for us is there because who knows what lurks in the heart of a woman? It will be a 'stay at home' day for me for sure.......I think. I sure do want to watch the NASCAR Daytona 500 race.

I did stay home yesterday while Glenda picked Aunt Ruby up and they gallivanted off into that westward lure. I understand that they gave several casinos a chance at them and of course the casinos took advantage of the situation. Glenda got home, not completely whipped but she wasn't making any wisecracks nor singing as she limped in. It was pretty much still like that when she came to bed too. This morning, as all mornings she and I both got up to a new world with yesterday's disappointment not given a second thought.

Glenda did get up with a pain in her left shoulder but we're thinking she lay wrong sometime during the night. Or she says it could have been caused by the many stressful moments she spent yesterday sitting in front of the video poker machines hoping something big would rack up after the next push of the button. Anyway the pain is kind of heavy on her mind right now but surly it will go away soon. That hopeful occasion just giving her another something to look forward to.

Three grand essentials to happiness in this life are something to do, something to love, and something to hope for. - Joseph Addison
