We had a good time yesterday. Good food, some play and plenty of looking. The middle one sticks out in my mind this morning. I won! I came out ahead at each stop. The best one tho, was at the Wild Wild West where I hit a Royal Flush on a penny poker machine for $160.00. Too bad I didn't have more money gambled on that play. Anyway at the day's end I had a full tummy and an extra $225 in my pocket.
Today Glenda is taking Bob and Sandy to a rental car place where they will pick up their vehicle and head for Scottsdale, AZ for the rest of their outing. We had a really nice time during their visit. Who ever came up with, "all good things must come to an end"?
Uncle Carl is picking me up here at 7:00 and we'll go to Kim's at Palmdale California to pick up a couple of roll-top desks that his daughter Kim wants moved out. I'm thinking that trip will put us home pretty late this evening.

On a day like today so was yesterday and we keep on enjoying them. The biggest things are, you won't believe it, where we're going to eat, then filled in by some travel and gaming in-between. The last two are the most expensive of the three and the least sustaining. Personally, I've been doing too much of them all. Fat doesn't follow me everywhere I go tho, that is unless I back in. I may be fat but I'm not a fat-ass.
Yesterday was good to me in the financial department. I won a little everywhere we stopped. I won over $105 but had a few expenses and only brought sixty of it home with me. Maybe that will offset some of the transportation (gasoline) costs. The others had varying degrees of success. It wasn't an unusual happening, but Ruby hit a royal flush on a nickel machine for $200 again.
Today it's to the Magic Star for breakfast. In the plans too, are stops at the Rio for their 3:00 show and probably a quick visit to the Orleans. Much more than this I'm sure, but as far as what or where isn't a known at this time. Hunger may play a role in where we stop for lunch or diner. All plans are tentative and subject to change based on a Glenda or Sandy whim. I don't know who if anyone will be joining us.
Gotta go!

All the folks made it in yesterday. Sallie and Annie flew in right on time while Bob and Sandy missed their 3:04 arrival time by dragging in at 4:40. We all did manage to meet at the Krohn's where we ate a lot of vittles as we discussed all the vitals. As expected, it was a good gathering with even Lena joining in via the telephone.
Today we plan to meet at the Fortune for breakfast and just go from there. We do want to stop at Sam's Town to get out tickets scratched for extra points. We may eat the buffet while we're there too.
I'm not sure how much time I have for here this morning so I'll just quit here and spare us all.

We had problems with the dove's sitting on our porch railing and pooping on the porch. I read somewhere that WD-40 sprayed on the railing would stop them. That didn't work. I finally defeated the birds with...........duct tape of course. I tore off pieces about ten inches long, rolled them with the sticky side out and stuck them along the railing. NO MORE BIRDS!
Today Glenda's brother and his wife is flying in. They are supposed to arrive at 3:04 pm. They plan to stay until Wednesday sometime. We'll pick them up and head for the Krohn's. Ruby and Carl decided to have a little get together for all.
A little earlier at 12:30 pm Glenda's Aunt Sallie and cousin Annie will be landing at the same airport. Annie's husband Randy has been out here a little over a month trying to get on at one of the construction sites. Work in Missouri is pretty slow. Anyway he'll pick them up and probably head for the Krohn's house too.
We just got a call from Glenda's brother, their flight is running an hour and twenty minutes late. If nothing changes that should put them in here around 4:24. No step for a stepper.

Glenda took what we thought might be a money making trip yesterday but our thoughts were badly out of whack! (I tried many different words besides whack but like the rest of the day I failed!) She did come home to a nice grilled steak and salad that I fixed. I can't help but wonder her lack of thanks. I guess together this long and my so many times fixing supper, it is just a granted? And you thought I didn't do anything!
A few stops to pick up the free treasures are on our list today. I have no idea what we'll do with all of this junk. Few are really usable. We have two binoculars still in their boxes that a four year old kid wouldn't want. An ice cream scoop with two dishes, four nice picture frames, twelve black cups, six nice chess and checker games, two five piece kitchen utensil sets, four barber sets, and the list goes on. We can't get any of them home unless we can talk Randy into hauling some of them back for us. He has said he would but he hasn't seen the stack yet.
Home for us is only about ten days away. Russell called and caused us some worry by telling of five houses down his street (Y19K2) that had been burglarized sometime last week. He walked around our place and said it looked un-entered but he didn't go inside. Whatever will be will be I suppose. Nothing we can do sitting out here.

A deserved day was yesterday. I won some! I played a machine one time then gave it another play only to hit four deuces for $50. Not bad huh? Then I did well on a Joker Poker machine and okay on a Bonus Poker machine. The 1:00 bingo at Sam's didn't give Ruby, Glenda nor I anything but something to bitch about. We also discussed how playing bingo at Sam's has proven that the words, 'law of average,' is just another bull shit saying with no meat to it. Glenda didn't want to talk about her luck err, I mean lack of luck. I need to keep her out of those gambling places. She wasn't in very good humor last night. Ruby didn't mention how she did but she seemed to be in an okay mood.
Gasoline here has jumped again in price. Most postings are somewhere between $2.34 and $2.45. We have a half tank so we're not too needy but we did see one at $2.29 and would have filled'er up but we were unable to get in the left turn lane in time. We're going to give it another shot today.
I believe it's time to start stacking up some of the things we'll want to take home with us. In that stack should be several things with good value in case we're forced to pawn a few things along the homeward route. You never know.
When I was fifteen I visited my brother and sister in California and was going to ride home with some other homebound Missouri boys. My brother, insisted that I put what little he had in his cupboard in my suitcase in case we got hungry. I didn't want to but relented and put the three cans of tomato soup in with my clothes. Believe me, cold tomato soup really is good when you're hungry. We all almost came to blows over it. Had a few ears of raw corn out of some farmer's field to go along with it. The corn was really sweet but kinda hard to stomach.
I tried to trade a nice jacket to a guy in Kansas for gasoline but he wasn't interested. A very nice man he turned out to be when he accidentally filled our car up instead of stopping at the $3.00 worth we had asked for. He said it was his mistake so we weren't expected to pay the difference. We didn't have any money for it anyway but I know the guy just helped us out. One of the guys knew someone in Springfield, Missouri where he borrowed enough money for the rest of the gas we needed to get home. We did manage to make it in fine shape.

The word is "What you do in Vegas stays in Vegas". Let me tell you what! We've been done many, many times in Vegas and the surrounding areas. Done pretty badly a couple of times too. We sure as the hell don't plan on staying here past the 4th or 5th of April. So not everything done in Vegas stays here.
At least our plans at this time has set one of those days to head home. Hopefully we can scrape up enough money to pay our credit card bill when it comes due in April. The gasoline prices are so high that carrying enough cash around to pay for it would be really dumb without a security guard riding along. That is if we could find someone dumb enough to loan us the money in the first place. Broke, broke, broke!
Today our plans are to give that crooked Sam's Town a chance to pay some of their stealings back to us. If not in cash, at least we'll partake of their free buffet and play our free bingo coupons. I know it takes a lot of luck to be where we are in life and healthy at that. That may be consuming a pretty huge chunk of our luck and I wouldn't want to see that changed. But...you just never know when a tiny tad of that stuff might be left over. Maybe this will be the day. I'm thinking it may be as simple as adjusting our attitude!

For us, yesterday was a breezer that was topped off by a visit from the Krohn's. We ate breakfast at home but we did partake of the two free meals birthday meals offered to Glenda in honor of her birthday by the Fortune Casino. Man what a deal! Onion rings and Jalapeno Poppers as an appetizer, a salad then a 16oz. porterhouse steak. Afterwards, a desert of cheese cake. We brought that home along with some uneaten portions of the steaks for later consumption. At least a thirty five dollar value, all for free. So to speak............ Well, all in all it was a good day!
You know what? I never ever had a fantasy that involved a sixty year old woman nor did I ever give much thought to being married to one but here I am. For your information it isn't nearly as bad as it sounds. In fact I can't think of a place I'd rather be!
Today a quest lies waiting for Glenda and Ruby's departure for their 'girl's day out'. The Lord only knows where that will take them. As usual they haven't more than an itsy bitsy idea as to their destination but they always seem to come home joyed by the adventure.
I plan a visit with Carl, as we add a few more programs and do some more updates on his newly born and still mostly naked computer. He sure did lose a lot of stuff when the guy reinstalled windows. Well, he lost everything is the fact.
We may all be driving home in some rain. It is mostly cloudy at this time with the possibility of rain running clear through Thursday in the forecast. Makes me think so much about Missouri.

We've been out and running in our new day for awhile already. Another day that has thankfully been allocated to us. So far nothing really special has come to pass that might mark this day as a standout in our memories. Well, Glenda turning sixty today may have a lasting impression of sorts. It isn't every day that a person can turn sixty. As near as I can figure there is only one given to each person and he/she has got to stay alive long enough to get it.
I wanted to do something special for Glenda today. I made coffee and fixed her a big cup with her special creamer mixed in, then carried it in to her in bed. She likes to have her coffee as she watches the news on TV. Sounds pretty good but special it wasn't, as I do that everyday birthday or not. The day isn't over yet! Hope is still moving me on.
I'm thinking breakfast at the Jokers Wild and dinner at the Fortune with a few other stops mingled in. Not too different from most of our other days but I vow to be acutely aware for anything that crosses our path that I might grab onto to make Glenda's day more special.
This may sound like I'm only going to work on this only today because it's her birthday and the other 364 days I could care less but that isn't so. She is pretty special to us, (Larry, Mikey and Tomi), all of the time and we do try to treat her as such. Well, Mikey and Larry does, who ever knows how a cat is treating you.
"A relationship is like a rose, How long it lasts, no one knows; Love can erase an awful past, Love can be yours, you'll see at last; To feel that love, it makes you sigh, To have it leave, you'd rather die; You hope you've found that special rose, 'Cause you love and care for the one you chose." -Rob Cella

End,
A grand feed yesterday at the Krohn's along with some visiting with them and the Mongomery's. The Montgomery's great grandson keeps them awfully busy and with Bill working nights, visiting with them is a rarity even tho they only live three blocks away. T'was a good deed that Aunt Ruby was responsible for and Glenda basked in the honor. We know some sweet and thoughtful people then we know some extra sweet and extra thoughtful people, both Aunt Ruby and Uncle Carl are in the latter group!
Glenda doesn't outwardly show any pain that might be associated with turning the big 60 but she doesn't seem to find very much humor in any jokes or statements that refer to her advancing age. I did slip a fugitive feel in after she went to sleep last night. As to the best of my recollection, I would say she doesn't feel even a tiny bit older, but you know how unreliable old folks memories can be.
Today we're going to use our time wisely. The most wise part of the uses is the absences of any gambling parlor visits in our days plan. I can't really pin down the second wisest use nor the third, fourth or fifth but I'm positive they are there. I'd say staying at home about says it all.
Since all has been said, it stands to reason that there isn't anything left to say. Bye might be one possible word that could be crowded in with the rest of the nothing. Good things always come to an end. If you've read this far you must have missed the good part.

We made the rounds again yesterday and Lost some before we won. That trend continued for several minutes then the weight column began to overcome the wins till finally the scales were once again tipped that way. I believe I can pin the reasons on any or all of three things. We got cocky, we got greedy or we just ran out of luck. I did make a substantial come back at the Fiesta which was our last stop for the day. We were pressed for time or I could have very well lost that too.
Today is only going to be a very quick stop at the Fiesta for the weeks free gift then back home tho, if Carl goes after his computer I'll ride along. It will possibly be ready sometime this morning. In the end he will still have the same computer with only windows 98 and with none of data being saved. A great opportunity to replace the old computer with a new, faster version with windows XP may sorely be missed.
Ruby is having a few folks over this afternoon for a get together, a party of sorts with foods and snacks. In part, this gathering will be to acknowledge, despite so many, many years of trials and tribulations, the success of Glenda's struggles that have finally brought her to her six .. six ....sixty....sixtieth..........SIXTIETH ........birth anniversary. That day will come to pass on Monday. Can you believe that age and still healthy? She seems to be holding up pretty well for an old lass. (lass (lăs) n. 1. A girl or young woman. 2. A sweetheart.) I had to put the definition in to lessen the chance of a beating in case Glenda didn't know the meaning. The word doesn't really sound all that nice. Anyway we are all blessed by this amazing occurrence.

Our foray of yesterday wasn't too productive financially but it did come through with a double handful of enjoyment. I'm not just talking about the free buffet either, it was a truly enjoyable outing. Maybe because we were allowed by the noisy flashing handled gypsters to play for a little while before they closed the trap. They allowed us to falsely think we were winning several times. Not to be but it did cultivate a little hope. You know that a little fresh hope can make you grin, stand taller and take bigger steps.
Thankfully our day ended without exhausting all of that hope. We have about the same reasons to make the same trip today and with what hope we've got left we should get through another day oozing with happy.
Uncle Carl probably has a little happy left from yesterday since he hit a royal flush on a nickel machine for $250. He needs all the happy he can get at this time because his computer crashed. That could very well cause him to lose a lot of information that he would have preferred to keep. He is talking about a new computer now so the misfortune isn't going to keep him down for long.
We have only seventeen or eighteen days to mark off our calendar here then we start marking it in Rocky Mount. Time sure does fly out here. I haven't heard any flapping of wings but a chunk of money done flew the coop on us too. Just like our days, once they're/it's gone it's gone. Unfortunately we are without a means to bring either of them back after they've flown off. Just grin and make the best of it is our deal. Or is that just grimace and make the best of it? A little bit of each maybe?
'Tis strange the miser should his cares employ to gain the riches he can ne'er enjoy.~Anon

We've got an immediate need to purchase some get-along juice for our car today. A dread comes with the need because of the cost that will be incurred. The lowest price I noticed yesterday was $2.209. That means we'll be forced to use our credit card for today's fill and for future fill's too unless it comes down soon. All that along with the going home fuel charged to the card will probably have us making payments for a year just to get it paid off. Sickening isn't it? A dread isn't a very nice way to start ones day either. We should have filled'er up yesterday!
It sounds like this day will be a very busy one anyway. Stops for free monies, gifts, points or food are on the list for Joker's Wild, Emerald Island, Sam's Town, Sunset Station and the Gold Rush. Come home isn't on the list mostly because it's a given. Given my choice I would just stay here. Oh, I suppose the food prospect might have a play in my willingness to go. A lot of people turn to food during periods of worry. I'd say in a lot of ways I'm normal.
Rather than get into any normal abnormalities that I may or may not posses, I'm stopping the whole thing here. Wait a momento! Would that be something I posses or is it something that possess me? Hummm, that is the question.

Wow! Woke up this morning to the realization that another day had slipped by without even a teeny whoop-de-do. A huge amount of those have come to pass in the last month or so. Giving it some thought I'd say the more proper wording would be like over the last several years. It's like life is getting past us with our taking but very little advantage of all the opportunities afforded us every day. Yep, we spend most of our days just coasting and that needs to be changed! I'm going to give that some serious thought during today's coast.
Coasting or not, I expect that today will find us eating a free or two for one buffet at one of the gambling joints here about. We'll gamble a little too, starting with the free five dollar primer that the crooks give us to really get the pockets pumping. Too much of that leaves nary a cent for tipping the waitress at the buffet. Maybe she should get a job in the bingo parlor where they expect or even seem to demand a percentage of every pot paid. Their demands go unheeded when I hit for a pot. Of course they don't miss much since I've only won once and that time I had to split it with another winner. Still fifty dollars wasn't too bad. Why would the lady that paid me think she was entitled to any part of that? She didn't stake me to any of the games. That really irks me and here I sit hoping to be irked many times in the very near future. I do believe a bingo session is on Glenda's list today too.
When I worked in a shoe factory years ago a nice lady told me that I was a good pilot. I quizzed her on that statement only to find out she meant pile-it. She said she thought I did a real good job of piling a little here and piling a little there. I can't imagine what brought that memory up but I do think that I've piled up here about all I can for this day.
Make no little plans; they have no magic to stir men's blood and probably themselves will not be realized. Make big plans; aim high in hope and work, remembering that a noble, logical diagram once recorded will not die, but long after we are gone be a living thing, asserting itself with ever-growing insistence.~-Daniel Hudson Burnham

We had an enjoyable visit at the lunch with our friends from Missouri yesterday. Rehashed old times, talked about current times then when it was time to go we shook hands, embraced with a little hug and headed out the door.
Glenda and I went to the Circus Circus to see another Missouri friend but got there too late and had to accept talking with him on the phone as our visit.
A pretty nice day except the talking of times past with ex-customers kind of slipped me a little bit backwards down the slope of the mountain, 'get on with your life without Fabick'. I've been climbing that thing for almost nine years now and still haven't reached the peak. I do believe I am more aware, in my almost nightly dreams of most all things, as I assist my friends in making the most intelligent purchasing decision, than I ever was in real life. But I'm getting pretty damn tired of the thing! Burned out I guess. Does one ever reach the top of that mountain to coast dreamless down the other side?
Today I'll do the take care of the pets, walk and read thing while Glenda and Ruby head out to seek their latest missed-fortune. You never know when the missed might become absent in the course of relating to one of their days. We all are hoping very, very strongly that this might be one of those wondrous wonders.
Meanwhile, back in those jungles, you all have a grand day!

Another great day happened here yesterday. Nothing too unusual, we've had a goodly amount of those in our lifetime. Some may have been better and some may have been worse but nothing has ever daunted our thankfulness for any of them! Gimmee more, gimmee more!
We're off this morning for the Terrible's Casino where we'll meet our Missouri friends for lunch if everything goes as planned. Hopefully this 20/28 mph wind won't blow us off track. We're living a slow life with very little excitement according to some, so I'll take along several pieces of candy in case I need to spice up a story or two for them. "Tell'em lies and feed'em candy". I don't know if that was a song or what but Glenda says she never heard of it. I thought it was an everyday saying.
When I got up this morning...................that damn front door was standing wide open again. I first thought it was that sight that chilled me to the bone but discovered the reason to be the temperature in the house that was only 64 degrees with a very strong wind blowing through the screen. I guess our paying more attention to detail hasn't been payment enough. We must have used the discounted version. I would be a lot more upset about the situation but thankfully the screen was still locked. That and the fact we live a guarded life out here with one of the Metro Police swat team leaders parking his weapon's laden truck in our extra spot beside the house and living directly across the street.

Surprise, surprise, it's really windy here but the forecast is for the temp to be near 80. It's pretty hard to take let me tell you. Ah, you already know that.
Another book, "In the Moon of the Red Ponies" by James Lee Burke, bit the dust last night. It was a fair read but the end was a disappointment. The kind of ending that makes you feel like you wasted a lot of reading just to get to nothing............Like a goodly amount of exciting foreplay only to discover that the Viagra had only been a placebo.
I did well hobbling around playing a few machines yesterday while we collected our booty. I brought home $26 more than I left with. If I had been playing quarters instead of nickels I would have brought home $104. So the beat goes on..........We also played a free tournament at Jokers Wild that gave each of us a real nice cap for free, we each had five dollars worth of free play at Sunset that we used to pick up a nice fanny/back pack and then at the Fiesta we picked up barber kit apiece.
Today there are too many Out-Of-Towner's in the area as to make going anywhere unwise and we want to watch the race anyway. Also with so many here, we think the casinos tighten up the machines. People standing in line to play every machine, why pay any winners? Big holidays are just 'take it' days for the casinos.
Take it or leave it....................It is necessary for life, there be both givers and takers. I'm taking time now to give you another anti-climatic ending.

The little 'big' foot seems to have gone down quite a bit overnight. I'm not sure if the limp is still hanging around out of necessity or if it has just become a habit. I'm sure I'll know before the day is done.
Around 1:30 yesterday Donna had an accident at the Smith's grocery store (parking lot I think). I don't know the details but she broke a finger and ripped the end of it very badly requiring seven stitches on a grocery cart I think.
Glenda was out, leaving me with no transportation but thank goodness she had her cell phone with her. Too bad she never turns it on. Ruby was at the Fiesta with no transportation because Carl was at a movie somewhere that didn't allow his cell phone to work. Bill was home with no transportation because his car was at Smith's.
As it turned out a lady employee at the store took Donna to the emergency room. Finally the movie let out allowing Ruby to get in touch with Carl. They rushed to the emergency room and took over from there, getting her, her car and her groceries home after a very long wait for the necessary treatment. That must have been around 7:00 last night before they got Donna home. They then went back to pick up her prescriptions for some pain pills and antibiotics. Donna has got to go back today and have the finger re-wrapped (ring finger of her right hand) as they did such a poor job wrapping it yesterday. They were out of supplies!
Glenda finally got home around 4:15 but things were in hand (no pun) by that time.
There has been over fourteen burglaries in this park in the last few months. Several have occurred while the occupants are in another part of the house or sleeping. One or two of the thefts were of things laying in sight in unlocked cars. As we understand it the theft is mostly by someone just walking in an unlocked door, picking up the easy things and slipping on back out.
Well let me tell you! We are careful about keeping the car and our doors locked and any valuables out of sight but.....................Night before last I was at the kitchen sink filling a water bottle, Glenda was sitting in her recliner reading, Mikey was chewing something laying on the floor and Tomi, who knows for sure where cats ever are. All of a sudden Mikey jumped up and with the hair standing up all down his neck and back began barking at the door. Tomi flew out from somewhere and sounding like a horse tore around the corner heading for the bedroom at full blast. As I looked over to see what Mikey was barking at I noticed the door was swinging open. I also noticed Glenda's eyes being larger that silver dollars. I immediately rushed to the locked door with the hair on my neck standing up to meet the intruder. All I had in my hand was a partially filled water bottle but I was ready to do battle. Geez, did I feel good to find no one there! I don't think throwing water on an intruder would be very much of a deterrent..........I don't know what I would have done. Anyway it was a pretty windy night (if you can believe that?). When I got to the door I found the screen to be locked as it was supposed to be and the door locked too. I guess the locked door hadn't been shut well enough to latch and the forceful wind blowing through the screen just opened the door and came right on in. It was probably a good thing as it has doubled our alertness to the small things and gave our bodies an extra burst of energy as it caused a test to see how fast our little hearts could beat. Did you know if the hair stands up on your neck hard enough it causes the area to be sore clear into the next day?

Glenda finally called the doctor yesterday. He came through with a prescription for Indomethacin Capsules. I started taking them immediately. This is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to treat minor aches and pains. Reducing the aches and pain seems to about all that it does and it has. The swelling and throbbing is still prevalent, tho it doesn't look so angry. It sounds like the gout problem has still got to run it's gambit which means Sunday or a couple of days after, I should be finished with this episode. I probably still need to watch what I eat and drink, at least till this passes.
I believe Glenda really enjoyed yesterday, being out alone and rolling with her whims without the necessity to concur the next stop with another. One of the stronger signs of this was the fact, yesterday she brought and carried home with her, three packages of red meat, a pound can of peanuts and a twelve pack of beer, all of which are no, no's for someone with a gout problem. I think she either likes to see me in pain or is trying to insure more trips alone for herself.
Again today, that is what she is going to get. She is just buzzing around here in the greatest of moods. I think I can stand some pain if it's going to make her that happy. You never know what a little happiness can lead to. There could be a lot to gain with a little pain. Just thinking about it has already pretty well moved the throbbing. I may just fix one of those steaks for supper by cracky! There is nothing more relaxing than the feeling of being well fed, full and and f----- fat at the same time. I don't want to forget well read too.
I finished another book yesterday, "At Hell's Gate" by Ethan Black. It was a good readable.

Yesterday was a great day if great is based on action. If it is based on results, beyond still being, it probably could be classified as another wasted day. A day ending where I couldn't have kicked up my heels if I had wanted to. I developed gout in the big toe of my right foot. It began Saturday and continued to worsen. Now it extends up past the ball of my foot and has just about immobilized me. I can barely walk right now and the plans of the day for me is sitting in the recliner most of the day.
They say there is always some good with any bad but I was really put out trying to find some in this case. After some thought I was able to come up with a couple things that might be called good. The first one came pretty quick; no casino visits, save money. The second was a little harder (no pun intended). It doesn't hurt now when Glenda calls me limpy!
So we're waiting for a response from our doctor to a plea I sent yesterday for a prescription for something to be called to the closest Wal-Mart pharmacy. So far he has not responded. I am open, believe me please, to any and all suggestions!
I've had this a few other times in the past and it always seemed to go away within a day or two. Only one other time did I get medication for it. I'm in dire need this time. There is no way to prop the foot to relieve the constant pain tho just sitting is the most tolerable. If you've never had this consider yourself very lucky. If you have problems, I guarantee you a dose of gout will quickly take your mind off them!
That brings up Ruby's fortune out of the fortune cookie yesterday, "Never trouble trouble till trouble troubles you". I liked that one!

One of the first things yesterday, the haircut came to pass then the library visit where I picked up four new books. After that I came home, walked Mikey through the desert for his morning message exchanging exercise and then sat down and started on one of the new books, "Alice in Jeopardy", by Ed McBain.
Around noon I headed out for Sam's Town where I met Glenda and Ruby and we played another 1:00 waste your time game of bingo. We did each get a nice $2.99 pen radio tho it cost us $7 each. After bingo the ladies went to the buffet while I headed home.
As I was walking out of the casino I was lured by several machines that allowed me to say here that both Glenda and I got our pen radios at no cost and they paid us nicely to take them. I didn't tarry long and contribute most of the winnings to that fact.
At home I heated up a couple pieces of chicken and ate them with a salad then finished the book. I would classify the book merely as okay while the meal was somewhere below that.
I'm thinking I might need to start doing this message before all of the usual morning duties. I'm sure I could put together a better bunch of words or maybe something containing a tiny tad of interest at that time. As you can read, the usual descripting phrase 'full of it', isn't even an option.
Too many detailed facts can sure be boring but I may have been influenced by something I read somewhere. Who really cares one way or another anyway?

Around noon I headed out for Sam's Town where I met Glenda and Ruby and we played another 1:00 waste your time game of bingo. We did each get a nice $2.99 pen radio tho it cost us $7 each. After bingo the ladies went to the buffet while I headed home.

We made a quick round yesterday but it wasn't quite quick enough and Sam's Town and was too quick at the Gold Rush.....Maybe. At least we lost at bingo and at the machines at Sam's but I was getting some of it back at the Gold Rush. Glenda wasn't doing any good and quit playing so I folded too. That was probably the second best thing to do, the first being now to visit any casino at all.
Today the forecast here, is for a high of 78 from the weatherman and a vow to win at the games by Glenda. Usually she and Ruby have their day out on Tuesday's and today is going to be usual. I may join them for bingo at Sam's Town to get the pen radio and have my card scratched for the free points. Who knows, I/one of us might even win.
Before I head out to meet them I'm going to get a haircut and visit the library. Short hair is in my immediate future and if the past can be used as an indicator, a lot more book reading is in store for me too. Gas is $2.179 per gallon with talk of $2.299 within the week. That and the cost of losing are conspiring to keep me at home. I can walk to the library if need be. I finished all the books I had checked out plus a couple more and I need to get re-supplied before we run out of gas.
We're trying to save a little so we can meet some friends from Saint Louis and Jefferson City at an already scheduled visit next week. Our plans are to meet them at Terrible's for lunch on Monday.
We hope to have a little gas and a few funds left over for another upcoming visit from some more Jeff City folks during the last week in March. Glenda's brother Bob and wife Sandy have an Arizona outing via Boulder City lined up somewhat like they did last year. The place they are going in Arizona is a very high class joint that we can't remember the name of or where exactly, but a visit to this humble joint prior to that stop will help enable them to enjoy it to the utmost.

After my morning shower, as I was drying off, I caught my reflection in the mirror. That view caused me to reflect and to acknowledge just how much time changes all things. So many things that were back when, just aren't anymore. Heck, as I looked in the mirror at my oversized life carrier with the big handles, I noticed I didn't even know what is hip anymore. Cool was not a word I or anyone used way back in my earlier years and as I looked in the mirror, thinking about the meaning, it isn't a word I could use at this time either. Lots of folks loose height as they age but unfortunately that isn't all. The big body and the oversized jowls worked good to minimize the prominence of my nose but as my eyes traveled, it saddened me as I was forced to realize that I'm just not the man I used to be.
Yesterday was a good day! We stayed home, only going out to do the walk. A good walk was made even better by the finding of twelve golf balls. An unpleasant aspect of the walk was the damn wind blowing me hurryingly along going, then with my pockets full of balls creating a larger target, impeding my return. Overall I still enjoyed it. How can working your body, mostly from the butt down stimulate ones mind anyway? Butt head really means something doesn't it.
In 25 to 28 days we're going to be heading out of here! Personally I'm looking forward to getting home. Home is where my heart is and I'm thinking that this heartless bunch of odd stackers out here are all from somewhere else too. They didn't bring their heart along either or they would let a person win a tiny bit once in awhile during one of their robbery session. It takes a dummy to stick his hand in a fire a second time after he had been burned once. A real dumb-ass goes back a second and possibly a third time. We represent the dumbest of the dumb asses, going back time and time again! unbelievably we enjoy it. Does that make us a pair of masochists?
I'm sure today will include a trip to Sam's Town and probably the Gold Rush. One little day of rest and the pain and agony of the burns have faded somewhat being replaced by a wish for revenge. Yeah, go get'em big boy!

We done and did another day or did it us? It wasn't very profitable but we did get 48-AA batteries and 48-AAA batteries at the Fiesta and a couple of nice Mikasa dishes at the Sunset. A little bowl with a handle to attach, it's pretty nice. Just what we need!
Today I'm thinking, 'no where', will be my main destination. Glenda may or may not be thinking the same destination for her day. Either or, will work for me, we're just lucky to be alive and well.
I'm thinking too that I don't have anything that I really have much of a desire to pass on this morning so............I guess I'll just give up and give in to the thought.

The girls made it back from their Yuma trip. As I understand it they had a really good time. Probably one trip per year will be all thay take, but who knows. I've got to download the pictures that Glenda took. It could be that one or two might get passed on.
It rained pretty hard for awhile last night. GOOD SLEEPING. It looks like rain so far today too but nothing yet. The report called for scattered showers off and on all day with it breaking up tomorrow.
Today a stop at the Fiesta and a stop at the Sunset for a couple of gifts are on the agenda. I've been home for three days and still didn't use up all my stay at home desire. Oh well, a man's got to do what a man's got to do.
"Modesty used to be considered a natural female attribute. No more. Just take a look around next time you're at the mall. With warm weather on the way, belly buttons will be popping out everywhere, and thighs will be very much on display, even in church. Back in the day, a pair of tight jeans was enough to earn a girl a bad reputation. Now slutty has gone Main Street. ... Many studies show that promiscuous behavior entails greater psychological costs for even the most 'liberated' women." --Linda Chavez

What do you want to hear about this morning? Yep, that about what I figured. "Ask and ye shall receive".

Apparently I got hung up in February. It took me two days to get out of the 28th. I didn't mind that so much as I did on missing the 1st day of March. I did finally make the transition so now I can march on.
Glenda and Ruby will be heading out of here pretty quick. Glenda is going to check first hand if the grass is really greener in Yuma than it is in Boulder City. Some folks sure makes it sound good there! Yep, the maker of all our decisions is going to check it out. I'm so thankful that Aunt Ruby will be along. At least I hope she would rather we stay here and if that is so, she will insure that Glenda gets made aware of any negatives of the place. A little bias here and a little bias there is a norm in real life. Speaking of which, Glenda certainly won't take the chance of irritating Aunt Ruby, so she will miss hearing good old Rush on the car radio.
My first march will be around 10:00 when I have got to make the 1.5 mile walk to Vons for a small bag of dog food. I can't believe I didn't notice before now that Mikey was so near out of food. I could use the car to run up to the store and haul it back before Glenda leaves but she doesn't want me to use any of her $2.13 per gallon gas. Now isn't that a kick in the asXX butt?
President Bush announced he wants Americans to have their own private personal fund. Or as John Kerry calls that, "the wife."

No casino's today!.................Well, that's my personal plan anyway. Glenda is going to make a grocery and drugstore trip so I'm not sure of where she might end up. Both the Food-For-Less and the Walgreen store are just too close to the Fortune Casino. If I was a betting man I'd bet that car will pull hard to the right as she leaves Walgreen. Yep, that'll take her right to the Fortune. Another complication is, coming back from the Fortune she has got to pass a K-Mart store that has been advertising 50 to 75% off quite a few items. I wouldn't bet against a quick stop there too.
Yesterday was a bummer ! The free buffet at Sam's was pretty good as usual but losing at the machines and at the Bingo games fairly well made that free cost about two tads above expensive establishing the day as a bummer.
There were two highlights tho. The second highlight of the day was when we pulled into our driveway with no casino's between us and the front door. The first highlight came earlier in the day and surprisingly was near our front door too. It came as we walked up to the front door after the long hot sweaty walk. The old recliner can become a pain in the butt area after setting in it for too long of a period but it always sits fine and pain free after the 3.5 plus mile walk.
The most newsy thing is that GLENDA, being strongly encouraged by Aunt Ruby is GOING to LEAVE ME. It came out of the blue for me but they have been getting together on Tuesdays for some time now. Who knows what kind of conniving talks pass between two women when the men aren't around? Even more astounding, to help ensure it comes to pass, Aunt Ruby is going with her.
As planned at this time, they're heading out tomorrow for Yuma, AZ for a visit with all the Rocky Mount folks there, leaving me to care for the pets and leaving Uncle Carl to fetch the daily papers and mail, while holding down that home front. They are planning to head for home sometime Friday. YIPPEE! I GET A THREE DAY VACATION! No casino visit's, car-less so no traveling anywhere. Walk, eat, and just laze around reading without a TV or radio on, sounds like a perfect vacation to me!
Attending a wedding for the first time, a little girl whispered to her mother, "Why is the bride dressed in white?" "Because white is the color of happiness, and today is the happiest day of her life." The child thought about this for a moment, then said, "So why is the groom wearing black?" Woe are us!
