March 18, 2005

Our foray of yesterday wasn't too productive financially but it did come through with a double handful of enjoyment. I'm not just talking about the free buffet either, it was a truly enjoyable outing. Maybe because we were allowed by the noisy flashing handled gypsters to play for a little while before they closed the trap. They allowed us to falsely think we were winning several times. Not to be but it did cultivate a little hope. You know that a little fresh hope can make you grin, stand taller and take bigger steps.

Thankfully our day ended without exhausting all of that hope. We have about the same reasons to make the same trip today and with what hope we've got left we should get through another day oozing with happy.

Uncle Carl probably has a little happy left from yesterday since he hit a royal flush on a nickel machine for $250. He needs all the happy he can get at this time because his computer crashed. That could very well cause him to lose a lot of information that he would have preferred to keep. He is talking about a new computer now so the misfortune isn't going to keep him down for long.

We have only seventeen or eighteen days to mark off our calendar here then we start marking it in Rocky Mount. Time sure does fly out here. I haven't heard any flapping of wings but a chunk of money done flew the coop on us too. Just like our days, once they're/it's gone it's gone. Unfortunately we are without a means to bring either of them back after they've flown off. Just grin and make the best of it is our deal. Or is that just grimace and make the best of it? A little bit of each maybe?

'Tis strange the miser should his cares employ to gain the riches he can ne'er enjoy.~Anon
