I believe the crappie fishing has past it's peak for this spring. The next really good fishing will be late fall. I'm sure if a fisherman used a boat he would catch more than I do, just sitting here waiting for them to come by but I like it that way. Yesterday I caught a school passing and caught 4 just as fast as I could cast, then........NOTHING for the rest of the day.

The limit on the lake is 15 with the length limit being 9 inches. Now with the fishing slowing down, to get a limit, I'm forced to keep anything even if it is just barely over 9 inches long. Beware, that measurement is with the mouth closed. When you shut their mouths you lose a good half an inch of length.

This morning I fished for an hour and a half and only caught 5. The way I figure it is an average cast is about thirty five feet and I average about 3 casts per minute, Geez that's 270 casts, more or less. That also says the lure traveled about 18,900 feet during that period, Half in the air and half dragged through the water.

By golly I pulled that lure over a mile and three quarters of water this morning and never left the dock. I dragged it over a quarter mile for each fish caught. Overall I moved that lure over three and a half miles. Sounds like work doesn't it?
