June 12, 2005

A good rain threatening sky has our hopes of a boat-less cool day pumped right up to the top. I know the boat wish will never come to pass but the cool might. Speaking of boats, did you know that during the early spring, when every boat owner puts their boat in for the summer, it raises the lake level by an average of some 9.4 inches. A million boats displace a lot of water!

More on boats! Ruthie and Dory are planning a trip to the boat at Boonville. It may be today, tomorrow or next week but it'll happen. I really thought that Dory had whipped the addiction but I see now I was in error. I believe I've beat it myself so I'll just stay home and hold down the fort. I had a little help in overcoming it but when you worry how you're going to pay for the gas to get to town and back you have no business in a gambling parlor. Dory has a, "Don't worry about the mule just load the wagon" attitude. I guess that's okay but I can't help but think I'm the ass/mule.

Across the cove we have a new gas dock. I haven't noticed much action over there yet but they still haven't got a building up. I understand they also rent boats and waverunners. Gas sales will probably pick up as more people become aware of the place. It's just another plank for my building desire to get off the lake.

Say, I just made that spring 9.4 rise in the lake level up but it sounds reasonable to me. Sorry about that.
