Got a hitch in my back this morning. The new neighbor had some grass sod left over and told us we could have it. We decided to use it in the area between their new fence and our lawn. That will have our grass go clear to their fence if the rain runoff doesn't wash it away. Anyhow Rod from next door and I moved several tons of gravel out of that area and then started laying the sod. Can you imagine moving a huge amount of gravel with a rake, shovel and a wheelbarrow? Most of the gravel was just pushed and raked into the lake but I used several wheelbarrow loads up against our seawall on the lawn side. My back isn't very happy with me this morning and I need to go back out and finish it today.
I really did work my butt off and it was just as well. The guy hasn't came to pump our septic tank yet so I don't have any place where I can use it just yet anyway. I guess another way to put it would be the chore worked the piss out of me saving quite a few flushes. The best thing to say probably would have been nothing but I'm not going to take the words out now.
For the last two days I've been taking a towel and a bar of soap to the dock then jumping into the lake to bathe. That is pretty much a hit and miss kind of deal but it still knocks back some of the dirt, sweat and bad odor problems. Doesn't sound right bathing in sewer water does it? Just got to remember not to get any in your mouth.
It's also helpful to realize that this very body that we have, that's sitting right here right now... with its aches and it pleasures... is exactly what we need to be fully human, fully awake, fully alive.~Pema Chodron
