No chemo at this time and I hope not for later either. The doctor explained it and that stuff will kill you! It will damage some heart muscles, several other body parts and some possibility of kidney damage which Glenda has only one of. Chemo will be used only as a last-ditch effort and then only depending on the circumstances. The doctor doesn't think that will ever be needed and if it was it would only increase the chance of winning from 0 to 5%. If it should come to that a possible 5% chance would sound pretty good I'd say.
The first thing, unless we learn different today, will be radiation treatments on the knee area. This is just to help insure that all the cancer cells are gone. Operating on this type cancer they like to take a larger thickness of clean with the tumor but couldn't because of where this one was located. The actual tumor was about 2x5 cc which is classified as small. Large are the ones over 5cc.
They told us that the radiation would be as good as amputating the leg in this case. Whatever has been done has been done and taking off the leg wouldn't change that.
They have scheduled another CT scan of her lungs, liver and abdomen area for September 20. This is to check the growth in her liver and the tiny specks on her lungs to make sure nothing has grown.
There are still many, many miles of limping to do before we can walk or run again. All things considered I think we and the doctors are doing everything that can be done. Now if you'll just continue adding your prayers to ours, all things can turn out good!
