The big old sun in full view with only a few white clouds cluttering some of the horizon to the north leads me to believe the rain may be over here for awhile. For the month of August 2005 it is the wettest ever on record and there are a few days left yet. The Columbia airport recorded 9.92 inches while we've received just about 13 inches down here in the last couple of weeks but I don't know what we've received for the month. Maybe that's it?
If I should choose to, I think I will be able to beat down some weeds along the edge of the mud. We have grass in the mud but it needs a lot of settling before we'll be able to walk on it. You sink down an easy 2 inches anywhere you step where the ditches have been filled in. All the grass seed I put down may be for naught if I have got to bring in topsoil next spring.
I'm sure all of the above has been interesting and as I sit here thinking about what to type next I'm feeling that it would probably be equally as exciting so I think I'll cut our losses and give'er up for the day! .................... You're welcome!
