I'm pretty well disgusted this morning! It isn't much of a thing that started it but once something like that gets started................I have been reading a paperback and kept thinking that I had read it before. I wasn't sure because I'll begin more than one book at a time and so thought some of the things that I sorta remembered might have been covered during an earlier read. Anyway, I've been keeping a list of read books and I checked it this morning. Yep, it was listed. I read 232 pages of a 534 page book for a second time and it really wasn't good enough to read once.
Finding that out started it then the TV and most of the news people added to it. Have you noticed how they are talking now about how much worse it is getting there yet most of the pictures they're still showing are from day one or two? Where did some of the refugees get cigarettes to smoke? Why doesn't some of them start walking if it is so terrible where they are and without food or water? Maybe they could find some if they walk far enough. It's hard to help someone who won't help themselves.
How did the newscasters get there? Can't they pick up a few sick folks and take them out the way they got in? The talk is about how help is so slow in getting there or not there, yet it sounds like they do nothing to help the poor folks at all themselves. They only sit back and criticize and look for the worst possible stories they can find.
I know this is the worst disaster ever in the United States, I really do feel for the folks there. I realize that the whole world will be different and with higher prices everywhere for a long time to come but it seems to me the news-media could be a lot more helpful, if in no other way, than by showing us today instead of going back showing us five days ago over and over. I know I'm not the only person that is tired of the five day old pictures.
Glenda has another couple ladies, Nancy and Shirley, coming to take her for her treatment. I may get to take her sometime next week. After today the next treatment will be Tuesday the 6th. That should make the last treatment September 19th. On the 20th we have a doctors appointment in Columbia where they will do all the x-rays and tests again. A couple days after that we expect to be taking tall steps.
I'll go to the library to get a different book or two today. That might hopefully get my mind back to a less disgusted mode.
Complaining is good for you as long as you're not complaining to the person you're complaining about.~Lynn Johnston
