A little tap here, a little tap there and suddenly a few words might appear. Depending on who is doing the tapping it could be a bunch of meaningful words but with me, as usual, it just doesn't happen. Nothing ventured, nothing gained doesn't mean guts to venture will automatically reward you with a gain either. I cannot for the life of me figure out what I could even come close to calling a gain by venturing into this kind of crap almost everyday but dumb hangs around me like old clothes and so here is another stab at it. All for nothing again.
Come to think of it, if you do really do reap what you sow I should lose a little weight here every morning. For me, a weight loss would certainly be a gain!

We don't worship the computer but I was forced to get down on my knees in front of one of them this morning. Due to the forecasting of storms during the night we unplugged the thing and I had to get down to plug it back in. I didn't hear anything that sounded like a storm but we did get a nice rain which may not be over yet. Sure is a sad sight of the Texas flooding they're showing on TV this morning........over and over and over.....The forecast there doesn't sound so hot either! It must be this global warming thing huh?
Dory has 20 pork steaks to grill today for the meal she and Ruthie are serving at the Lion's Club bingo tonight. I have a very strong doubt that she will make it to the joint with more than 19 to serve. She made a huge thing of potato salad yesterday and is it ever delicious. Of course I only had a c o u p l e or t h r e e bites out of the creation. I always try to hide my tracks or else Dory would take a couple or three bites out of my rear-ation. When Dory bites, Hunky hunkers!
Q: What can a man do while his wife is going through menopause? A: Keep busy. If you're handy with tools, you can finish the basement. When you are done you will have a place to live too.

DISASTER: a: An occurrence causing widespread destruction and distress; a catastrophe. b: A grave misfortune.
I don't think our yesterday's outing to the gaming boat would be quite described as disastrous but my personal memory of the results are not available because they were so rotten to think about that they consequently became involuntarily lost within my system. Because of the lack of memory, of the ugly part, I can honestly say the trip was really very nice.
I plan to visit the library again today. Due to the loss of some vital recreational funds, sitting in the old recliner reading a bunch of books that are free except for the already paid taxes is about all I can afford to do. Hey! It's great to be alive!
Dory has a trip with Mary Jo to the grocery store lined up. Dory and Ruthie's number came up again to furnish the meals that are sold during the Lion's club Thursday night bingo. This is the last meal that will be made available by any of the ladies because so few volunteer to work at it anymore.
Which ignites in me, a refusal to volunteer anymore crap here this morning.

Dory almost beat me up this morning! However, rather than get her own coffee she let me up first. Her hurry seems to have something to do with the fact we're taking Ruthie to Boonville for her birthday which will roll around tomorrow. I think it is really neat because Ruthie has her car filled with gas and insists we take it and yet she is allowing me to do the driving.
Hurry is the order of the morning and if I want to drive them I've got to go now!

Now, several hours after I've laid me down to sleep the up and at'um is in progress. Unfortunately the up and at'um isn't what it could have been. Dory left me to my own wiles pretty early this morning to be the designated driver for Ruthie after the doctors appointment where they are going to do a really in-depth check of things. Fixing my own breakfast doesn't sound very gratifying but considering the option, which would consist of nothing, I think I'll give it a shot.
I can't help but envy their lunch plans that have them taking momma out to lunch at the Dragon Buffet. Here, I'll have a piece of deli meat wrapped in a lettuce leaf just as we have most every day. Maybe today I'll add a piece of baby Swiss cheese, a couple pieces of radishes and some low fat blue cheese salad dressing to complement the concoction.
Hungry has overtaken me so I'm off to react to the calamity.

Whoopee-do! Woke up several hours ago to find another day staring me in the face. I don't know for sure how long it had been doing that but I wasn't at all unhappy about it. Actually we may have saved a little money because I didn't need to turn any lights on as I went to procure the first cup of coffee for Dory and myself.
There was a time that I might have been a little aggravated about sleeping past the regular getup time but those days are long gone. Now I'm able to see some blessings that have always been there but I guess were taken for granted. It is a great blessing to be given another day no matter what time it starts. How can so many of us not realize the greatness of retaining enough mobility to rise and face the new day with only a few pains and aches to groan past. Even if the mobility isn't, there is enough joy to find in the mind to still be classified as one of the truly great and wonderful blessings that none of us could live without.
If a person took the time to really think only about all the blessings received they wouldn't be able to do it in their lifetime. And I'm not going to say that if that was all a person ever thought of he probably wouldn't live long anyway. The multi-million thoughts that one has everyday, some are what puts food in their mouths and possible happiness in their minds... This note could go on and on too but it won't because some new thoughts have made themselves known and the possibility of something more exciting than this can't be very hard to happen.
Q: As people age, do they sleep more soundly? A: Yes, but usually in the afternoon.

Time flies when you're having fun and a few unhappy times doesn't seem to have much of a slowing effect. I've certainly experienced a lot of both in my lifetime yet as quick as a cat can wink an eye here I am fast approaching 66 years of age. On one hand I wouldn't object to a slowdown but experience noting that unhappy slows not, my plans are still to remain as happy as I can and just hang on and enjoy the ride. I am mighty thankful for the ride so far and can't help but feel strongly blessed to be able to keep on keeping on.
Don't know where all that came from because I don't feel old and the thoughts of being 66 has no negative influence at all. It's just that it seems so many would rather read and will pay more attention to a misfortune than a huge happy slash of words. Look at the news on television and in the newspapers, if it isn't a terrible or at least a pretty bad happening it isn't there.
There isn't much here either so the quit thought just slipped up and slapped me! Damn, I should have had a V8!
Q: Is it common for 60+ year olds to have problems with short term memory storage?
A: Storing memory is not a problem, retrieving it is a problem.

Mild and muggy to begin our day here. Mild will be leaving us shortly as really hot arrives to fill in all the cracks. Well, coupled up with muggy they do. I'm not certain that fill the cracks is as correct as clean the cracks. Shoot, I don't know what you would call it but after only a little time outdoors you'll begin to feel a watery solution creeping down all your cracks and crevices and even down the back of your neck. On top of that the solution is also capable of messing with your vision. Makes that "I'm hot to trot" saying sound kinda stupid to me but there seems to be nothing wrong with "when you're hot you're hot".
I can see clearly now as I sit in here looking out the window with the air-conditioned running. Then as my gaze drops to the monitor, I can see clearly that I should have let another day whiz on by without attempting a note. I just type and send on guts alone I guess.

Despite my worthless feelings yesterday I was able to eke out enough something to pressure wash the porch and wash both vehicles.
The porch took about twice as long to do as it should have. The big bright sun filtering down through the leaves created many a dark little shadow that looked exactly like a must remove spot. Those turned out to be uncleanable with the pressure washer and believe me, I spent a long time on several of them before I realized that. After too much time it came to me that if I thought a leaf shadow was a spot to be cleaned just the reverse might work and save me a little labor. Stupid me thought what spots I might miss by hurrying along could possibly be misconstrued by Dory as only a leaf shadow and still get me a pass. I'm sorry to say I missed a few. Any idiot should have realized that the time of day we usually sit out there the sun is on the other side of the house.
I had already put the washer up when this was discovered and tho washing the vehicles hadn't part of my plan for the day I felt the need to add the task in an effort to temper Dory's feelings about the not quite sufficient porch wash. I don't know how much of an effect it really had but I was fed some of the best spaghetti for supper than I've had in a long time.

Woke this morning not feeling worth a hoot! Sweet Dory volunteered to give me a second opinion. The results of that check confirmed the not worth a hoot feeling and added more than the hoot to the feelings which I was not feeling worth. These sad results contributed to making me feel even worse. Woe is me!
In hopes that an outside job can improve the situation I have pressure washing the porch high on the to do today's list. Not being as active in so many areas as I once was has probably dulled some of the feelings that I'm not quite feeling up to this morning. A few hours with a pressure washer can certainly shut most of your hearing down leaving the other more sensitive senses to pick up the slack. With them at work and with the help of the washer, it won't take long for the hands to begin tingling, then not long after, a re-newed awareness of my back and arms will come to the front. Soon enough my mind will become aware once again of the complete body and then with the wakened mind selling, I think I'll be able to buy back into a much, much better bunch of worth feelings.

The humidity is falling! The humidity is falling! Oh wait, I think the proper terminology for the stuff might be rain. Not too bad so far but the people who are paid to tell us all about it keep inserting the possibility of a nasty turn before the days end.
There can be no life without strife. Big streaks of strife and little streaks of strife, happenings that no form of life can escape. Seems we all just live from one strife to another trying to make the in between as happy as possible. I guess you could change that a bit by saying we all live from one happy to another with some strife jerking you in between. Whatever, the fact remains, you can't escape some form of strife.
Fortunately for us, we're out into a long stretch of the happy....... unless you consider the furnace drain line was stopped up causing a water on the floor it that room problem, a little stab of strife.
Nope, another day struggling to type-a-a ? ? ?

The Nod-a-way House will be the name of this joint for today at least. Glenda invited three ladies over last evening for a little bite to eat, (Bratwurst with chips and Pork and Beans), and a few rounds at the poker table. It took till after 10:00 before everyone of us oldies would admit to having enough of the games. Then Glenda couldn't get off a stupid TV program till 11:30 which put us way out into our regular sleep time without any. I ended up losing twenty five cents while Glenda won fifty cents so the evening didn't cost us much more than the sleep.
One thing, I can honestly say that being the only male in this bunch was a heck of a lot more enjoyable that the time I was selected for jury duty along with eleven women. Hoo boy!
Anyhow, I imagine there will be a bit of nodding taking place around here today. It will take a better book than the one I'm reading and a better NASCAR race than what has been, to keep my eyelids from creeping down preventing me seeing what is. Instead, as I snooze, I'll be left to seeing old movies of past happenings. Because dreams are so uncontrollable you never know just how twisted and never happened type things will be exposed to your defenseless sight. Some can be better than was, or could be of one of those unconscious wishes that never was at all, yet most will be of a terribly screwed up twisted view of a semi-real of the past. You never know if you'll wake angry, scared or smiling and happy as a Lark.
That last word up there brings up to me a sure thought that this note went way past a should have been ending!

A short note is better than no note......probably not for you but it does me all kinds of good. My blood has got to course through my huge oversized body which slows it down getting to my brain. Too, I think the body uses up quite a bit of the fresh nutrients or whatever kind of stuff it is that the blood picks up somewhere as it flows along. Anyway, I believe the old brain is getting short changed which causes it to attempt storing the stuff instead of letting it out to the mind. The mind gets sluggish and begins to coast along creating a 'duh' type syndrome. Even a short note squeezes the mind like a tube of toothpaste and forces some of the crap to flush. Soooo.. could that explain why these notes are always so crappy. It is said that an idle mind is a fertile ground for undesirable thoughts is another reason why a note of any kind is good for me......You know, anything at all to get the mind past idle.
Well, I think I have it pretty well flushed now. Guess I'll go out and try to find something to use it on.

I have heard "no news is good news" many, many times and believe that it could be true depending on the reference. Last night I missed the news and weather but caught a clip on a Columbia channel saying something like "7 on 17 coming up". I know this means 7 minutes of news and weather without a commercial so I hung around.
Gag! The station then flipped to a basketball game in progress. I was able to read at the bottom that there was only a little over a minute left so I watched a bit and waited. Watched long enough to decide basketball to be one of the most ignorant games ever to mess with regular TV watching. What with purposeful fouls, timeouts and all the other silly goings on, gees, I had to wait over 40 minutes as they ran from one end of the court to the other, stumbled and banged each other through that last 83 seconds. Does this sound ridicules?
Anyway, I subjected myself to what was, for over 40 minutes waiting for the news that turned out to be no news. Not good, not good at all!!!!
News is only a wonder for some and a leader of others. With the biased coverage of today's happenings, some will accept it as gospel while the less gullible will always wonder what the real story might be. Some even wonder enough to flip channels.~Anon

NOTHING
Nothing to it, just sit down and start typing. Typing what? The weather? Who cares about our weather? If anyone was interested they would have already checked it out on-line somewhere. I should type on a subject that would be of some interest to everyone but what?
Sex would be a possibility but I don't know that I could type of it in an interesting way. And besides if I happened to be sucessful it could possibly cause a readers mind to drift off to another place, another time.
Religion wouldn't be that interesting to most people and I probably wouldn't know enough about it to type anything anyway.
Fishing is a nothing at this time, so no stories there.
Two nice pets and a great wife could be subject material but as an interest, it wouldn't be very far from home. I can't even seem to comply with the old saying, "If you can't bedazzle them with your brilliance baffle them with bullshit". Or maybe I have from the first word, nothing, which I imagine will continue clear on to the last word on the page. That should be coming up pretty quick.
Tomorrow Dory is going to Jeff to accompany Momma Lena, Aunt Sue and Uncle Bob as they all meander down to the Brown cemetery that is located near Black which is pretty well red-neck country. A lot of relatives gather there and after placing several yellow and multi colored flowers on the graves the folks all re-gather at a park where a large assortment of food is laid out. Visiting and eating over, they'll head for home trying not to worry too much about all the green they used to get there and back.
This afternoon we've been invited to share some time at some friends house on the other side of the hill, I don't know what else we might do today but one thing that is a sure NOT, is the wasting anymore of everyones time on this!

Second Wind?
I can hardly believe it! I ran a name on Google and about 9th on the list this blog was listed. I may start this blogging thing again. I took the opportunity to read back and was able to see that for the last year or whatever I still mostly say the same old stuff. Some in a newer way but most of it is about the same old thing. Getting older hasn't seemed to slip my mind too much. What the hey, it doesn't cost too much more than time.
