August 23

Being older sure creates some problems; caused me to miscalculate and almost do more than I could handle yesterday. Among the did's was the cutting of a bush at the seawall and carrying it to the road. The damn evergreen type bush brown on one side, making it only a halfgreener, came apart into many trips to the road pieces. The first load to the road wasn't too bad nor was the second but about the third load my enthusiasm for the project began to seep out of my body. It was so hot and humid that the moister running off my already wet body was running out of supply and I think began replacing the shortage with my enthusiasm.

It is impossible for me to type the real feel of the loaded walk to the road but I'll say that the first 25 or so steps was up a shaded rocky terrain then two steps onto the lawn before the shade ended and wasn't too bad. It doesn't quite sound right but when I took that step out of the shade into the sun, the sun flat-ass cold-conked me with heat! It made my knees wobble, my legs to slow and my mind to wonder how many old men die doing something like this. Thankfully, I was able to drag my ass and the load the necessary 27 more steps to the stack in the road without dying. Weak and worrying I took a break after every load I assure you.

We walked to the new wall going up down the street and was wet by the time we got back but we still have a few things we want to do out there. Again, I bet we put a rest between every want.

In youth we run into difficulties. In old age difficulties run into us.~Unknown
