December 12

As I am, a book read is a book dead. If at any time during my reading the thought should rise that I've previously read the book it dies there in my hands. Whether I remember it well or not, I cannot get myself interested in a book that might have been there before. So with that I began a list of books read. I didn't date the first few entries but think I started it in 2002. So far I have like 523 listed and those just about cover any book of my interest that we can locate at the Eldon Library. I'm going to need to expand my interests or give up the reading. Hate to think of going to Versailles to that library but may need to. I have tried the bible but it seems most readable in times of strife and we as most, go to great lengths to avoid any of that stuff.

I think another trip to the library is in the making for today anyway. Dory thinks that just because today is our 23rd anniversary we need to go out to celebrate. Of course happy times needs happy places and happiness just abounds in libraries. Too, we can find a KFC, a McDonalds and even a Sonic drive-in where we might further enhance our celebrating mode. What a great little place is Eldon. With a Wal-Mart, two grocery stores and an Orscheln Farm and Home it just about has it all. There is also a place where seniors can eat for a small contribution of sorts. Maybe we'll look that up and check it out today.

It sure looks nasty out but so far we've dodged the freezing rain, sleet and snow. Actually we didn't dodge it but it seems to have missed us anyway. Now there is talk of a real snowfall for the area Friday night into Saturday. We're the neighborhood watchers this year so we'll see.

"I only go out to get me a fresh appetite for being alone." - Lord Byron ...... And believe it or not but Eldon is one of the greater places for whetting ones appetite.
