Only 33 degrees so far with a misty kind of rain that is almost as thick as fog. And so my fellow dwellers: ice not what your country can do to you - ice what you can do about it if slick should happen. Of course there isn't anything we can do right now except plan of what we're told could be a possible several days that could taint the area with a bunch of bad as they come to pass. I don't believe it is supposed to get real cold so if the power should happen to fail the gas fireplace downstairs should tide us over. Guess we could boil a few eggs so we wouldn't be forced to only a diet of pork and beans and bread. The well couldn't pump so we probably should carry in a couple five gallon buckets of water to flush the stools with. Wouldn't want the place to start smelling like rotten eggs. It's possible that any gas created by the beans could help heat the joint but it could thicken the air too much and end up in your lungs which a clothes pin on your nose wouldn't prevent. Isn't it a bunch of crap in one's lungs that causes pneumonia?
I'm thinking a trip to Eldon may come to pass about mid-day. Ruthie and Evelyn have kindly invited us to be their guests at one of the banks Christmas things there. I'll outfit Dory with a large purse and we'll see what we can come away with that might help break the monotony of beans and bread should an outage actually occur. If it doesn't we could still enjoy some took-out. Took-out is what a take-out is called after you get it home anyway. Yes, I know this is only idle tippy type. Dory would rather live on the beans and bread than to succumb to even one of my great ideas.
I imagine we'll stop at Paul's grocery for some baloney, more bread and some milk while we're in town. Probably a few other things plus hopefully a visit to the library. These stops could increase the comfort of any possible home-boundness.
I just hope it doesn't slick up on us before we get home! However, I have faith that we will be able to weather any weather.
There is really no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather. — John Ruskin
