March 14

Sitting in a funeral parlor for 45 minutes waiting for the ceremony for the deceased to begin, there isn't much talk carrying on. This wasted time gives some of us a solitude moment right there in the middle of a whole bunch of other folks lost in their own thought.

Not that you would be interested but into my quite time wasted thoughts seeped in, some things that has confused me some in the past too. The fact that only the living humans are saddened by the loss of their friend or relative. We the living are very, very selfish people. We are saddened by our loss! I, me, mine, my loss!

What about the deceased? He/she has lost their life, what about that? We're always told that with death comes a better time without worries or strife, things that are all common to life.

Under these circumstances I can't help but think how much better things would be if the mortician would put a huge smile on the deceased ones face and crinkle the flesh around the eyes a little and leave the eyes open. This could help all the viewers better understand that the deceased ones happy to ride his spirit to the much better place.

Then again, I suppose I could be wrong about all this.

"Absence of occupation is not rest; A mind quite vacant is a mind distressed." - William Cowper
