"We've got a long way to go and a short time to get there", are just some words to a song that doesn't really mean much of anything to many. For some older folks tho, it reads as a big 'good gosh'. Like when you get my age and look back it comes to you..........Good gosh man, how in the hell did I get out here so far so quickly!? They just put the words to the wrong song maybe.
While young, the "West bound and down", along with, "we're gonna do what they say can't be done", works fine but now it's different. You realize now it's like "south bound and about down", while the 'gonna do' stuff was something we did the best we could and it's about all done now.
What about the, "It starts out good and just keeps getting better"? I'll admit that worked for me for many years but somewhere along the line it changed to "It started out good but now it's getting badder", tho there are several things that are still better and must be looked up to. The reason for that is the many badders outweigh the better so much that they tip the scales severely which positions the better pretty high.
Memories are those things that get better over time because of ones inclination to clean them up and adjust them every time one comes up. Around my age they are about as good as they will ever be. Maybe I've lost the ability to rearrange them or else I'm so happy to still have some it makes me proud to accept them unadorned.
Of real interest these notes may never be but cooked meat might have never been if someone hadn't stumbled into it. But then again......
