September 22

71 years ago last Friday one of our nice neighbors was crying and bawling around as he was slapped on the butt a couple of times. I'm pretty sure that he doesn't remember this nor do I know it to be a fact but Friday was Dale's birth anniversary anyway.

There is a good chance that 67 plus years ago I was crying and bawling around also. Heck there is a chance I was crying and bawling around yesterday. I've always been a bit sensitive and somewhat quick to tears. At one time I hunted and killed deer, squirrels and rabbits but not any more. Can't even watch a hunting show on TV now. Funny how some things leave you as you get older as other things strengthen.

You can get tougher as you age but the almost surprized realization of the fact that from the moment of birth the end begins approching can wimp you up pretty much. The death of an animal or person creates a pain.

Even at our birth, death does but stand aside a little. And every day he looks towards us and muses somewhat to himself whether that day or the next he will draw nigh. -Robert Bolt
