A couple guys fired up the boring machine yesterday and so the job has officially begun. Rain coming so they won't work long. I did get the facts about working in the rain. In an emergency and if they are authorized they will be paid double time. If they are not authorized and get caught working, in even a tiny shower, by a union rep they will be fined $500.00. Doesn't make cents to me but could make several dollars for the union.
The news media has about worn me out with the heroics of, Chesley B. Sullenberger, the pilot of flight 1594. I will say he did perform a wonderous task in sitting the plane down on the Hudson in one piece and was good help in getting all the folks off in one piece too. Gee whiz! That was a month ago.........give it a rest!
If old C. B. is a normal but skilled person his first thought would have been, "Oh my God, my ass is dead if I don't do something". After which he skillfully saved his own life while another 154 people just happened to be there to tag along.
I don't mean to take anything from him but I'm hard put to believe he had the 154 others higher in his mind than himself. At least until he and the others were all down safely.

The egoism which enters into our theories does not affect their sincerity; rather, the more our egoism is satisfied, the more robust is our belief. -George Eliot
