For awhile last evening and early this morning I was pretty upset about the haircut! Sometime after the haircut I seemed to lose a whole bunch of my strength and became awfull sluggish. I just couldn't figure it out until finally the story of Sampson and his haircut came to mind so there it was, the reason was clear. Got up this morning still sluggish but after doing all the usual readying to go chores and activities I began to feel quite a bit better.
Came down stairs to fire up the computers and as I did so my mind reflected on the most wonderful meal that we were invited to partake of that Mary Jo prepared last evening . Invited, so we did and I did and I did and I did, man, I just love stuffed peppers and these were some of the best ever.
Now, slowly creeping into my mind came the absolute most probable reason for the sluggishness and the seemingly loss of strength. I had stuffed way, way too many stuffed peppers into my eager cavity. After a little chewing some main player pushed them down into my garbage disposal, overloading it somewhat. Unfortunately, the thing can only be activated by some mysterious internal source and that source must have been busy somewhere else. This caused me quite a bit of distress as I waited at least eleven hours for that greatly wished for moment of activation.
Ha, another crappy message finished quick. I always try to bowel to what I imagine the recipients .......I mean bow to what the recipients might wish.

Some say rain may cleanse a portion of Missouri today. In order for it to do a more through job it is thought that in may bring in some very strong winds to scrub away a few stubborn spots and maybe some hail to beat loose some of the worst. Then again, who but the Shadow knows for sure?
A trip to Eldon for a small weight loss session and a quick stop at the library for a few new choices to read while it rains. Hopefully I can get home before the rain begins so as not to melt any of my sweetness. A little over three months since my last hair chop job so I think I have enough hair to remove that could take a quarter pound of my weight off even cut dry.
If it doesn't rain too soon there will be the wall builders working and possibly a couple of tree removers removing a few trees both of which I would like to be a participant in the observation of. It is a tad windy so the tree cutters may not want to swing around in the trees without full control of their moves. We'll see how it goes....

Being older sure creates some problems; caused me to miscalculate and almost do more than I could handle yesterday. Among the did's was the cutting of a bush at the seawall and carrying it to the road. The damn evergreen type bush brown on one side, making it only a halfgreener, came apart into many trips to the road pieces. The first load to the road wasn't too bad nor was the second but about the third load my enthusiasm for the project began to seep out of my body. It was so hot and humid that the moister running off my already wet body was running out of supply and I think began replacing the shortage with my enthusiasm.
It is impossible for me to type the real feel of the loaded walk to the road but I'll say that the first 25 or so steps was up a shaded rocky terrain then two steps onto the lawn before the shade ended and wasn't too bad. It doesn't quite sound right but when I took that step out of the shade into the sun, the sun flat-ass cold-conked me with heat! It made my knees wobble, my legs to slow and my mind to wonder how many old men die doing something like this. Thankfully, I was able to drag my ass and the load the necessary 27 more steps to the stack in the road without dying. Weak and worrying I took a break after every load I assure you.
We walked to the new wall going up down the street and was wet by the time we got back but we still have a few things we want to do out there. Again, I bet we put a rest between every want.

New folks moving in at the other end of our road and the concrete truck torn up wall is finally being taken down completely so it can be put back up. I've got a lot of neighborhood watching to try to keep up with today.
Typing nothing seems to be okay with me most days but for some reason I can clearly see the ignorance of it this morning. I suppose a little ignorance is tolerable but enough is enough!

Ended up with about two inches of rain yesterday and we accept it with thanks. At 78 degrees right now it isn't too bad but the rain left us with an 85% humidity, ugg to that and the 94* forecasted high. Even tho the rain will re-instigate the mowing chore, outdoor things were becoming mighty parched with many many leaves giving up on the roots for their moisture supply and jumping out of the tree in a search of it on their own. I really do think the fall of all the leaves is awfully premature. The lawn is covered which will have the mowing a mulching process too.
Now the race is on and here comes pride up the backstretch, Heartache is going to the inside........ Anyway the Sunday NASCAR Race finally got underway a few minutes ago. It is pretty hard for me to think while I try to find the proper buttons to spell out the thought. That is why so many typed thoughts quit before they end, leaving nothing but wonder. So because adding watching a race to the mingle may cause a complete collapse, I'll quit now.

You know you're going to have a good day when........You wake up and mentally realize that you still are and it makes you happy. Happy is a very good way to start every day! Happiness begets happiness! A lot of folks have problems realizing they have been blessed and just take another new day for granted. That attitude seems to skip happy somewhere along the way and an ugly grump can result. Count your blessings!
Sorry, my mind has too many chores this morning and consequently gave me the false impression that today was Sunday and the keyboard and chair set at it's highest position was a pulpit. I believe I have it back under control now.
Old age has been stealing some of the wind from my sails lately. Also I keep getting a mite heavier so as I walk up the hill to the mailbox the old lungs start huffing and puffing big time in an effort to replace the stolen wind enabling me to sail err... navigate right on up the hill. You would be surprised to see how much the wind from the wings of a tiny little horsefly can bellow your sails and increase the speed of which you top the hill. Damn! When they bite they draw blood!
Glenda is going out into the rain to visit mama in Jeff City while I'm planning to stay here and read. Whatever floats your boat huh. Only have .6 inch of rain so far but it is still doing its drive to it's destination of the land and the lake. I think I mean it is still raining.

A fairly fast moving day yesterday as are most days after you get a little age on oneself. I suppose we have a slow day now and then but to make it such you really need to concentrate on it and that just happens to be one of our many powers that have declined somewhat.
Yesterday afternoon we got Davy's new dock out of his little 'put it together cove' and tied it up for Davy to move this morning. It was a very tight squeeze getting it out between Marcum and Rowles' docks. Davy, in his bass boat and Mike in the big boat, came by already this morning at 6:20 heading for the new dock then came back by pushing it home at 6:48.
Good is the view from here due to the 'cloudy looks like rain any minute' keeping most of the dock killing boats and wave runners off the water. A good book reading day with some NASCAR watching mixed in I'm sure. We try always to plan our days to be just as good as we can make them but every so often we succumb to the need of falsifying a few facts to ourselves so all things can at least be thought to be good or a little better than actual. Is it a sin to lie to yourself, the easiest person in the world to lie to? Why is laying down a lie? And then there are those that can stand and lie.
I doubt you would call, 'I've probably typed enough', a lie. Always build your embellishments around a truth or at least a half truth.
There are no whole truths: all truths are half-truths. It is trying to treat them as whole truths that plays the devil.~Alfred North Whitehead

Friday, Dory's extra special day. She and Ruthie meet a couple or three other ladies at one of the restaurant in Eldon for a delicious meal then they continue their wonderful outing by visiting the bowling alley for a few games with some other older folks from the area. Afterwards, maybe a stop at the grocery store before heading back to her one side moated castle and her big pet and the two little ones. Dory did say that she is getting tired of lunching at McDonalds and so they're changing the meeting place for lunch to Taco Bell this time.
Meanwhile, back here in the jungle I'm left to fend for myself which includes preparing my own lunch. A piece of deli chopped ham wrapped in lettuce sounds pretty good. I may have a couple of them along with about eight ultra light potato chips and a sliced tomato. This is an actual description of our usual lunch here at home. I sure do like that chopped ham but it must be high caloried because it contributes naught to a weight loss.
I see naught is a pretty good word to use in summing up the contents of this note too. Possibly a waste of time but I kinda enjoy doing naught!

Type, type, type. Type what is the question. What, what, what. Nope don't think that works but I suppose it is about as informative as what usually comes from here. Anyway, on with today's nothing, maybe several lines of the absolute.
Refreshing wasn't it?
Hot was tempered by dark last night but not much. 78 was about the best it could do here and I think it might have gotten hot a little bit ticked off because the temp has increased six degrees since 6:00am. Another 100 plus day is forecast which puts the thoughts of a dip into Lake Lotahocky, err I mean Lake of the Ozarks throbbing in our heads. The dip into the hot lake isn't necessarily cooling but it does stop the 35 itching spots that the droplets of perspiration creates as it courses down your body.
Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces up, snow is exhilarating; there is no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather.~John Ruskin

I'm thinking today will be a clean'er up day. The old laptop is way way slow for some reason and I'm not talking about on line things. Its own programs like Outlook Express and Works Calendar are taking an awful long time to load. It takes so long to do a complete cleanup job that it gets ignored too often. I need to run Ad-Aware, Registry Mechanic, disk cleanup, error check and defrag. All time consuming rituals.
Already 82 degrees by 8:00 with a 73% humidity will make this day another sewer diving day. Taking a chance of some amoeba swimming up our nose and into our brain causing primary amoebic meningoencephalitis like it did with the 12 year old kid in Texas. Whoa, only a 3% survival rate. It's said that the microscopic organism lives in non-chlorinated water and thrives in water that is hotter than 80-degrees, stagnant and polluted. http://www.kvue.com/news/local/stories/081307kvuemeningitis-cb.2f51a5fe.html
I think our lake water is hotter than 80-degrees. I mean how hot does water need to be to cause one to sweat while submerged in it? We've got the non-chlorinated, hot and polluted but I don't think it is stagnant. Just kicking like mad to get down to the neighbors stirs up quite a bit of it.
Work and play are words used to describe the same thing under differing conditions.~Mark Twain

Only 63% humidity here right now but the temp is forecast to be in three digits again today and tomorrow then they say it will cool off with the high being only around 97. We still maintain a huge thankfulness for all the days we get no matter the temperature or humidity.
A cool ride to Jeff City for a visit with mom is our main plan for the day. If we get back in time we may get into the sewer water again to float around and obtain some needed exercise in a cool way. It requires quite a bit of work to float down the cove to the neighbors and back tho a watcher might not think so. Sitting astride a large noodle shaped piece of foam leaves only the head, neck and a bit of shoulder out of the water to calmly float along while similar to a duck the underwater limbs have all got to be paddling to get you anywhere. Unlike a duck there is a large amount of un-streamlined, under the water body to move along.
Yesterdays float for me was to the neighbors then back toward the main channel. It was a good bit of exercise and left me with a few memories of it first thing this morning. Since, I've pretty well worked most of the memories out and feel pretty good now. We need to do that everyday!
Speaking of which, everyday I have nothing to type and I see that today was no exception.
Do not resent growing old. Many are denied the privilege.~Unknown

The darnest thing! We had a table on the upstairs deck with an umbrella sticking up out of the middle and four chairs around it. I looked out this morning to see the table where it always sits, still surrounded by the four chairs but it was laying there upside down with no umbrella in sight. I finally found the umbrella clear around the corner of the house in the yard. It was upside down too. We had a tricky wind burst last night is my thought as the only another thing amiss is a flower pot with flower laying on it's side on the same deck.
Probably need to check the old neighborhood out first thing this morning or maybe I'll put it a bit lower than first. Shoot, I'm not even going to put it on my list but I'm certain I'll get it checked out before the day is done.
I don't know, but the tricky wind must have siphoned my windiness away somehow for it appears to be missing again this morning.

I know the guy is doing it on purpose! He is out there on a wave slapper or wave maker going round and round making lots of noise and huge waves causing some negative thoughts to slip past my fairly solid defense. With over 1150 miles of shoreline wouldn't you think the man could find a different area to slide around it. I know, I know, we just can't afford to move at this time.
My main duty this morning will be in attempting to change the code on the remote for one of these Bose Lifestyle 12 systems. When Glenda is watching the TV with the sound from the system upstairs and I'm downstairs I may prefer it not to be quite as loud as Glenda. When she turns it up it turns it on and up downstairs too. If I can't change the code we'll be forced to keep one or the other unplugged and that is pretty stupid! I'm positive I can change the code anyway.
I've got to get up from here, take the stairs up then make my way across the front room to do the job so that makes it, 'up, up and away' for me.

Lost seems like a good word to describe my mental capabilities this morning as well as most other mornings but it is a little bit worse right now. When I try to think, think is the only word I see. If you can't get past think, Katy bar the door and look for the straitjacket. You Can If You Think You Can~Dr. Norman Vincent Peale. I think I can, I think I can. I don't believe this is working. Always been told that crap just flowed out of this mouth like a calf with scours but the problem this morning is leaving me with the thought that I'm suffering from some sort of oral constipation.
Guess I'll quit while the quitting is good. Would have been more good sooner but I missed the mark due to being so engrossed in my think thought.

What a deal! We have a Bose Lifestyle 12 system that we bought in 1994. The thing still works but the remote quit and those things are pretty expensive. Anyway Glenda found in the Jeff City paper on-line edition, the same model system for sale. We called then went up after it yesterday afternoon. Only paid 9 percent of what ours cost in 94 and the thing works beautifully as does the remote. The cost of a new remote is more than half of what we paid for the complete system.
After I hooked it up I used the remote to get it to play a CD but the music wasn't at all what I thought was on the CD. It took awhile to discover our old system downstairs was the one playing and our newer purchase wasn't working. That is a far reaching remote to be able to activate the system downstairs. I went down and unplugged that system then went back to work on the newer one. Yippee escaped from my lips after only 20 minutes when the sweet little thing began working. I typed it as sweet thing now but it went through a heck of a bunch of other names before it got there. Some of the names shouldn't be typed so I won't. Sad part is I have no idea what was wrong nor what I did to correct the problem. Maybe it just got tired of all the names.

Took the CD thing back and happily received credit for it. Had a little tint put on the car windows and was fairly happy with the results. Happy to see gasoline for $2.589 in Columbia so I filled the car up. Just totally engulfed in happy things until the gambling boat visit. That visit came very close to negating all the happy that I had been able to accumulate during the course of the day. I realize that it is only a mind over matter kind of thing but the matter was pretty overwhelming and even with all my mental skills I was unable to prevent a heck of a dent in my mind. Tho I was able to retain enough happy to keep me going memories of it this morning are causing a lot of extra pulls on the rope as I try to get a little happy started for today.
Our 90 plus degree weather with an 82% humidity factor seems to make that rope a bit slippery too. When you go outside it feels like you've put on a full body suit of moist heat as the stuff envelopes you completely. If the reason you're out there is good enough you don't notice it after a while and I don't venture out unless I have a really good reason.
A note to the heat is that children are not conceived very often when the weather is like this because it heats up the males contribution too much to be potent.

I think it is all the wave runners buzzing around here every day sounding so much like a bunch of bees at a hive that causes my mind to be so addled all the time. I don't consciously relate it to the last time I was stung but I'm sure the memory is pulsating back in there somewhere. One real tiny insect sticking her little modified egg-laying apparatus into the top of my head and injecting a dab of bee venom gave me the appearance of having overly botulinum toxin filled lips, terrible itching palms, a raspy breath and a $600 plus visit to the hospital. To make bad even more than bad, at the hospital they told us the next time will be worse and if not treated promptly could even be fatal. Now isn't that a thought to carry around in your head as you walk out there among them? Going to the garage or walking down the road I see some form of at least 12 to 20 of those little killers every day and some flying less than an inch from my body. I don't usually spend much time outside unless Glenda is home.
She won't be today but I'm going with her. We are going to take that CD thing back to Sam's in Columbia and being Booneville is so close, a run in that direction for lunch will probably jerk our reins. You can lead a man to a gambling boat but you can't make him gamble! As it is with some of us weaklings force isn't necessary.

Lucky us! We're able to participate again in another one of those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer. Hot and wet sure sounds exciting doesn't it? Yep, we're truly blessed and very thankful for it!
Now that we're up and about with breakfast behind us and no chores in need of immediate attention, we can choose how we want to dog around on this 35th dog day of summer. Tho a lot of our T and T activities (this and that) might better qualify as NM's (nothing much) we really do enjoy our ability to choose and that has a strong influence in assuring the days program contains lots of nice and happy.
We wish you huge bunches of nice and happy too and with that I'll end this NM note.
The summer dawn's reflected hue To purple changed Lock Katrine blue, Mildly and soft the western breeze Just kiss'd the lake, just stirr'd the trees, And the pleased lake, like maiden coy, Trembled but dimpled not for joy. ~Sir Walter Scott

“Into each life some rain must fall, some days must be dark and dreary.” But for now the lack of it here, our days are becoming somewhat dark and dreary even with the sky full of sunshine. Looking out, as we sit inside with desires to do outside things, the extreme heat and humidity sure does cloud our outlook. After our desire for outside things get strong enough we'll venture out and it won't be long before we'll be tickled because of it. The shirt and pants quickly get too wet to hold all the body generated moisture causing the excess to run. As it flows down the paths of least resistance, it tickles and tickles. Tho sad doesn't necessarily happen, the tickles usually fails to grow the half assed grimace into a full fledged smile. It also makes a savvy Missouri born cautious person more aware of his body parts as so many of the drips feel exactly like a tick crawling around looking for a place to feast.
I'm still hoping to come up with something worthwhile one of these days.

We've got never ending things to do and happily we're still able to do most of them. Our front road watching camera is not sending or the receiver is not receiving our normal view of the driveway. There is a need to replace a part in the stool tank downstairs and then I want to re-box the CD thing so we can return it to Sam's Club. I spent forever trying to get it to work in all it's modes but didn't quite make the grade. I do know how to read directions and have been previously versed in their hook-ups. So after using up half a day and all my knowledge I called the manufacture's technical support. We went through a bunch of things again that I had already tried till finally he agreed something was wrong with the unit. Told me to send it in and they would exchange it but I believe we'll just take it back and forget it.
A few years ago I went thru the same kind of deal, working on a Sony unit for more than a day till I broke down and called in. Same answer, it's broke, send it in for an exchange which we did. Got the new one up and working pronto. China sure puts out a lot of crap but they put out so much stuff I bet the crap factor is pretty low overall.
We're never without a chore to do.

The results yesterday of Glenda's thyroid gland were okay but not as good as we and the doctor would have preferred. Before they stuck a needle in to drain the nodule on the gland, the doc said if the liquid came out straw colored we were good for a year but if it came out bloody she would go back to the needle and try to obtain enough stuff to biopsy. It came out bloody. She tried to get stuff for a biopsy but doubted she had been successful. That leaves us with a wait, if nothing strange occurs, of six months then back for another check. The doctor is still 95% certain that there isn't a malignant problem. Our personal certainty is at least 5% better than that and ours are faith in prayer backed.
We stopped at Sam's Club for a CD thing and when I unpacked it this morning I discovered 3 wires missing. The batteries were already in the remote and some of the wires that should have been wound up wasn't. A returned product is a certainity. The last one they had and we were told no more coming. Now, do we want to try obtaining the 3 missing wires or do we even want something that someone else didn't? I suppose I'll need to hook it up for a test. Every thought I have of the damn thing near empties my bladder.

A trip today to Jeff City for a short visit with Mom then on to Columbia for the biopsy of Glenda's thyroid gland. The appointment was set up in May due to an increase in size but the doctor was 95% certain that it isn't a problem but wanted the test to make double darn sure. Of course there is not a total lack of concern on our part but we still strongly believe nothing will be found amiss.
Gotta kick the cat off my lap and go walk the dog. We want to make sure he has a good chance to clean out his system before we leave because he'll be locked in the house for 8 hours or more.

little rain possible, a little fog and a forecast of temperatures going back into the 90's with a heat advisory for the rest of the week and beyond. I think people in Missouri are prone to be a bit more wrinkled than folks from other places because of the constant changing temperatures causes the body to continuously expand and contract.
One of the reasons I stay heavy is because FAT seems to fill some of those cracks. Near wrinkle free, but trying to see looking over my cheeks is an aggravation. Sitting is nice with the built in extra cushion but sometimes a narrow chair causes some to hang over. The hanging parts tug pretty hard on the rest of the rear and that isn't very good.
I can't play golf because of the need to bend so far forward to enable myself to see the ball past my chubby cheeks and over my belly. So far forward, that I need to use the club as a brace. When I jerk the brace out to start my swing I'm prone to fall on my face. That isn't good!
I can't think of anything worthwhile to type and that isn't good either. Wait! Maybe that is good.

A note is not a sure thing but when a note happens from here you can be fairly sure the content will be of little or no interest at all. If you've read this far you can already see what I mean. I don't know why I keep trying to send one when I have nothing to say, which is always the case. I'm sure you know that nothing is ever easy. That means my typing a nothing note is a pretty huge chore. It is possible that I feel some satisfaction in believing I've stuck a little aggravation in any person that might read what is typed. This could put into motion the self-healing anti-aggravation system that we each have, resulting in a less bumpy and better rest of the day for all. Who knows?
