Sitting here with weight on my mind and wishing I hadn't put that pepper jelly on my lone piece of toast this morning. The thought was derived from the word wait which is what I'm doing this morning. Waiting for the Charter Cable person to come make us honest and then also waiting for a tree taker down guy to quote us a price to remove and haul away a near dead sick diseased tree. We think it may be suffering from 'Oak Wilt' which is a killer. If that is what it is the written word on the internet is to get it out of there and hauled off ASAP. Don't stack it around for use in the wood stove either.
Dory is going to head out to Jeff City for a visit with her mother but she of course is leaving me a strong sense of how to handle and exactly what to say to the folks I'm waiting on. Boy can she tell me, but comes to telling whoever she won't.
We had a couple guys here to give us a price on a bit of sidewalk which would include about four steps. I had talked to them down the street where they gave me a $900 quote. After talking awhile I figured a much lesser price was probable but to work it right I told them how my wife ran the show and it was her and only her that wanted the thing anyway. Got them to come look again while Dory was in attendance. They did and during the course they came down to $650. We talked awhile and I made the sign for Dory to ask if they would do it for $500. She would not open her mouth! GEES! I had to say it finally and they agreed of course. We told them to do it but I decided that $500 might still be too much so I called them telling how my wife was a little squirrelly and we needed to cancel the job for right now. Told them I might call them back at a later date if I ever got things righted here. Whoopee darn, life is but a dream sweetheart!
