May 10

Yesterday was a cool, damp, cloudy kind of day with some rain thrown in and today looks like, and sounds pretty much like, a repeat. That is as far as the weather goes. Yesterday, we braved the elements and traversed to the big city of Eldon but today I'm going to sit in this nice warm room in my recliner. No harsh weather to contend with as I let the book I'm reading take me to the west coast and the Los Angles area. Lawless is the name of the book and it has me pretty well involved with cops, lawyer's and murder. I will say that so far the trip hasn't been all that exciting.

I'm not sure where Glenda will go from the safety of our home but later this evening we will both probably go to Darlington, SC to watch the Dodge Challenger 500 at the Darlington Raceway. We don't expect to have any parking problems and our television will allow us to see almost all the race and some parts of the it more than once.
Pity those spending all that money to sit there amongst a very large gathering and only getting periodic flashes of the race as the cars whiz by. The flash is so quick that they'll very seldom know who they just saw. However, I'm here to tell you that race car noise is better than a country song.

The expenses for our home will go on whether we're in it or not so all this exciting in house traveling comes at no extra cost and possibly generates a huge savings.

Travel, be it by auto, book or television is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts.~Unknown
