August 6

Slow down world! It seems like yesterday was Monday, how did Friday get ahead of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday? I'm enjoying retirement but it may be we're enjoying it too much. That is if time flies where you're having fun. I'm at the age where I'd like to savor each precious day but for some reason we just don't have the time. Of course to fully appreciate things you must use all your resources and mine are somewhat stunted. Can't see very well so I miss a lot of the flowers that I should have stopped and tried to smell. A large portion of my sense of smell has wandered off too. The birds singing might lead me to some flowers but I can't hear well enough to know if a bird is singing or not.

It isn't funny but it is like a lot of folks, including me, kind of ease out of this life a little bit at a time. As I've walked down the road of life, with little bits and pieces falling away, it was just too subtle to notice at the time. Now, enough has left me to slap me across the face with awareness and it's too late. I should have taken a little better care of the carrier. Unfortunately, I imagine if I had it all to do over, (what a scary thought), I would probably do it all the very same way. I'm pretty happy and thankful for the life we've got.

Boy, talk about wandering off! How did I get started on this stuff?

The sky is an unsightly orange as the sun makes its way up. So far it hasn't peaked over the yon trees but it's due any minute. Just like everything else, one minute you can't see it then quick as a flash it is hanging up there full, staring down at you. Nary a boat nor PWC on the lake at this time. What a nice looking lake.

Shotgun wedding: a case of wife or death.
